Whatever the weather, children need to spend time playing outside. Whether it’s kicking a ball, riding a bike or just exploring, there is value in everything a child experiences while outside including developing gross motor skills.
Gross motor skills are the bigger movements — such as sitting and rolling over, they use the large muscles in the arms, legs, torso, and feet. Little ones need to understand what the body can do.
Playgrounds provide an ideal safe space for children to exercise and develop skills such as balancing, reaching, grasping, running, hopping, climbing, bouncing....and many more. Whilst having fun children are exploring, testing and expanding the limits of their growing body.
